GREENVILLE, Ill. -- Sophomore Cooper Elam (Farmington, Ill./Farmington) captured the men's individual pole vault championship with a final vault jump of 4.25 meters (13-feet, 9-inches), highlighting the Eureka College Track & Field team's successes at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Track Meet, Saturday in Greenville, Ill.
Freshman Josh Kuse (Heyworth, Ill./Heyworth) and senior Ellen Goins (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) each took home fourth place finishes. Kuse finished with a time of 11.44 seconds in the men's 100 meter dash, while Goins crossed the finish line in 1:02.76 in the women's 400 meter dash. Kuse also placed 5th in the men's 200 meter dash with a final run of 23.04 seconds.
Sophomore Colton Johnson (Lewistown, Ill./Lewistown) finished fifth in the men's javelin with a throw of 40.27 meters (132-feet, 11-inches) to round out EC's top five finishers.
Goins' finish was good enough to place the EC women's team in 3rd amongst conference teams, while the men's team placed 5th.
