EC women secure third straight conference victory in Elsah

ELSAH, Ill. – Eureka College women's basketball sophomore guard Kerrigan Dura (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield) scored 13 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double, guiding the Red Devils to a 65-52 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Principia Panthers, Saturday afternoon inside the Crafton Athletic Center.

The victory moves the Red Devils to 6-11 overall and a 5-5 mark in league action. Principia falls to 1-14 overall and 1-9 in conference play.

Senior guard Emily Camden (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central) was Eureka's leading scorer with 17 points, aided by four three-point field goals.

Camden's 17-point effort moves her to 958 career points, while her four made three-point field goals pushes her at 187 career three pointers, nine shy of breaking EC women's all-time three-point field goals made record (Brittany Gardner (04-08), 195).

Dura dished nine of Eureka's 14 assists, one shy of a triple-double. Dura's points and rebounds total were both career-highs for the sophomore.

Principia got 41 of their total points from Kara Johnson (21) and Sophia Hathaway (20). The Panthers connected on just 2-of-16 three-point field goal attempts.

The Red Devils won the rebounding edge, 48-38 with 25 coming on the offensive end. Eureka forced eighteen PC turnovers on 14 steals.

Eureka returns to the Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. tip-off against the Spalding Golden Eagles.
