
EUREKA — The Eureka women's basketball team notched another blowout victory and another season sweep in one fell swoop on Tuesday.
The Red Devils drummed Principia for a 77-37 win at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena.
The win came just three days after EC handed Blackburn a 30-point drubbing on Saturday, and is the team's sixth win by a margin of 30 more this season.
Freshman Jadyn Mitchell (Flanagan, Ill./Flanagan-Cornel) dropped a career-high 24 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the floor, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Ashley Harfst (Saunemin, Ill./Pontiac) recorded a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds. Ja'Keesha Hawkins (Peoria, Ill./Peoria) contributed 17 points, Whitney Bozarth (Normal, Ill./Normal West) followed with 11 and Olivia Falls (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) tied a career-high rebounds with 17.
Harfst also tied Michelle Myers (1993-97) for fifth in program history with 418 free-throw attempts.
Principia kept it reasonably competitive in the first half, only trailing by five after the first quarter and 12 at halftime. EC then outscored the Panthers 20-8 in the third quarter and 27-11 in the fourth.
The Red Devils led by as many as 42. They racked up 48 points in the paint and 24 off turnovers.
With the win, EC improved to 11-7 on the season and 7-4 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The Red Devils will take on Westminster (6-11, 5-5 SLIAC) on the road on Saturday at 1 p.m.
