JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – For the first time this century, the Eureka College baseball team opened the season with a doubleheader sweep on Friday.
The Red Devils took care of Northland College with a pair of 9-0 shutouts at Lenz Field.
The first win of the day marked the Red Devils' second season-opening victory of the past three years. The second pushed a team looking to make program history this spring into uncharted territory on the first day of the season.

Sophomore Gregory Cluskey (East Peoria, Ill./Metamora) gave up just one hit in six innings to notch the first win of the year for the Red Devils while striking out five and walking just one.
