Eureka’s Dylan Hill Selected to D3baseball.com Team of the Week
EUREKA – Eureka's Dylan Hill (Steeleville, Ill./Steeleville) became the first Red Devil to ever be selected to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week on Wednesday.
He received the honor after hitting three home runs in the same game in Eureka's 12-1 win over Greenville on Saturday and recording four homers overall in an impressive week of baseball.
The sophomore outfielder recorded a sizzling .625/.786/.2.125 slash line on the week, going 5-for-8 in three games, tallying four homers, driving in eight runs, scoring eight times and drawing a pair of walks. He also tallied four putouts in four chances in the field, and Eureka won all three games, improving to 4-1 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play for the first time ever.
Saturday was the first time a Eureka player recorded three home runs in a single game since Alex Hess did it on March 30, 2010 in an 8-0 win over MacMurray. It was also the first three-homer game in the SLIAC since Westminster's Blake Strebler launched four against Spalding on April 14, 2018.
Through 19 games, the Red Devils are 11-8 on the season and 4-2 in SLIAC play. They are set to host Spalding (10-9, 2-1 SLIAC) in a conference doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
