Red Devils Fall to WashU in Midweek Matchup
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Eureka baseball team came up short against WashU on Wednesday, falling 12-2.
The Bears opened the scoring early, plating one run in the first inning on an RBI single from Reichman. In the second, they capitalized on a balk to bring home another run and extend their lead to 2-0.
Eureka showed signs of life in the fifth inning. Mike Dunne (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone) led off with a double and later came around to score on an RBI double by Ace Padilla (Castle Rock, Colo./Grayslake North). David Hidden (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) followed with a single to drive in Padilla, cutting the deficit to 6-2.
WashU responded immediately, scoring another run in the bottom half of the inning before adding two more in the sixth on a two-RBI single from Cleage. Zachery delivered another blow in the seventh with a two-run single, and the Bears capped the scoring with one more run in the eighth to secure the 12-2 win.
GAME NOTES
