Red Devils Fall to Rockford on the Road
ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Eureka baseball team dropped a nonconference contest on the road Friday, falling 19-3 to Rockford.
The Regents got on the board early, scoring two runs in the first inning on wild pitches. The Red Devils responded in the second, as Ethan McDonald (Mannford, Okla./Mannford) and Gabe Peters (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) both crossed the plate on a two-run double from Noah Company (Le Roy, Ill./Le Roy), tying the game at 2-2.
Rockford took control in the third with a massive eight-run inning. Fabis led off with a solo homer, and later in the frame, delivered another blast to make it 10-2.
Eureka added one more run in the sixth. McDonald reached on a walk, advanced to third on a double by David Hidden (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria), and scored on a wild pitch to bring the score to 13-3.
The Regents continued their offensive surge with a six-run sixth to close out the game at 19-3.
GAME NOTES
- Noah Company (Le Roy, Ill./Le Roy) led the Red Devils offensively with a two-RBI double and finished 1-for-3.
- Ethan McDonald (Mannford, Okla./Mannford) scored two runs and recorded a team-high four assists in the field.
- Gabe Peters (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) went 2-for-3, scored a run, and tallied three defensive assists.
- David Hidden (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) reached base twice, including a double in the sixth inning.
