Rivera to play in seventh annual Bowl of the Stars in Mexico
EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka College senior offensive lineman Javier Rivera (Chicago, Ill./Taft) will play in the seventh annual Tazon de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) at Margarita Astiazran de Fimbres Stadium at the CETYS University in Baja, Mexico on Saturday, Dec. 19.
According to the game's press release, the Americans will train at the Mexicali, UABC and CETYS campuses in Tijuana, and on Dec. 19 will take on the CONADEIP All Stars selected from the CONADEIP private universities in Mexico. The week-long event will include practices, dinner at the US Consulate, community service project, Lunch & Kids clinic and other various activities.
Rivera, a preseason All-American selection, anchored a Eureka offensive line that produced 339.1 yards per game and 176.0 passing yards per game, fourth-most in the UMAC, while allowing only ten sacks throughout the season. The 2015 campaign marked Rivera's third season as a full-time starter and third time as a member of the All-UMAC Team.
