Eureka’s Charlie McKinty Named SLIAC Player of the Week

EUREKA – For the first time in his career, Eureka's Charlie McKinty (Elmwood, Ill./Elmwood) is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

The junior forward was named to the John K. Adams Tip-Off Classic All-Tournament Team on Saturday after leading the Red Devils to a 90-78 victory over York (N.Y.) with a 34-point, 10-rebound performance in Newark, New Jersey.

It was McKinty's first career double-double, his first time reaching double figures in rebounding and his second time scoring over 25 points this season. McKinty, who transferred from Illinois College last year, shot 11-for-19 from the field, 4-for-9 from 3-point range and 8-for-10 from the free-throw line in the game. He averaged 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in the tournament.

After picking up their first win of the season to close the tournament, the Red Devils (1-2) will host Knox (2-1) in non-conference play on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
