ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released its preseason poll for men's basketball on Thursday. The Red Devils were selected seventh with 35 points, tied with Westminster.
Last year's co-champion, Lyon, received the most overall points with 74 and received four first-place votes. Spalding finished just one point behind Lyon, with 73 points and two first-place votes.
Webster finished third with 66 points and picked up three first-place votes, while Greenville were picked fourth with 52 points. Fontbonne were picked to finish fifth with 39 points and received the final first-place vote. Blackburn finished just one point back of Fontbonne with 38 points, landing them in sixth place. The Red Devils return 14 players from the 2023-24 season, including three starters. Peewee Brown (Peoria, Ill./Manual), a third-team All-SLIAC selection from last year, will play a critical role for the Red Devils. Brown averaged 19.9 points and 2.5 steals per game last season. Ben Carter (Morton, Ill./Morton), the Red Devils third-leading scorer from last year with 8.8 points per game, will likely have an increased role this season. Eureka also welcomes 16 newcomers this year, many of which will play a large role.
Eureka tips off their 2024-25 season on Wednesday, Nov. 13, on the road against Cornell College at 7:00 p.m.
