GAME 1: Eureka 1, Cornell 12 (5 Innings)
Cornell took control early in the opener, capitalizing on key hits and defensive errors to secure a 12-1 win in five innings.
The Rams opened the scoring in the first inning as Keith singled to center, allowing Corona to score on an error. Souhrada followed with an RBI single, capitalizing on another defensive miscue to extend the lead to 2-0.
Cornell erupted for seven runs in the third inning. RBI singles from Roelle and Risley, a bases-loaded walk by Furman, and a series of errors gave the Rams a commanding 9-0 lead.
The visitors tacked on another run in the fourth before a two-run double by Risley in the fifth put the game out of reach at 12-0.
Eureka broke through in the bottom of the fifth when Haylie Kimber (Streator, Ill./Washington) delivered an RBI single to score Tylar Whitaker (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Township), but it wasn't enough to extend the game and the Red Devils fell 12-1.
