Alayla Thornton Named SLIAC Hitter of the Week

EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka's Alayla Thornton (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week.

Thornton delivered a dominant performance at the plate, starting with a doubleheader sweep against Maranatha Baptist on March 25. She showcased her power by crushing three home runs and driving in 10 runs in a standout effort.

She continued her hot streak on March 29 against MUW, blasting a two-run home run to cap off an outstanding week.

By the week's end, Thornton posted a stellar .500 batting average, going 8-for-16 with a double, a triple, four home runs, and 12 RBIs.

Thornton and the Red Devils will return to action on Tuesday for a road doubleheader against Principia, starting at 3:00 p.m.
