Olivia Falls Receives Second Team All-SLIAC, All-Defensive Honors
WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. – For the third straight year, Eureka's Olivia Falls (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) has received All-St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognition.
The Red Devils' tenacious four-year starter was named to the All-SLIAC Second Team for the second year in a row and selected to the SLIAC All-Defensive Team for the first time in between SLIAC Tournament semifinal games at Webster on Friday.
Falls, who received first team recognition two years ago and was named to the second team last season, closed out her prolific collegiate career with another standout season for the Red Devils.
The 5-foot-8 senior led her team in scoring and rebounding, putting up 13.8 points per game and pulling down 8.4 rebounds per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the floor.
She finished the season ranked third in the league in rebounds per game and seventh in points per game. She also racked up the third-most total rebounds with 209. She was sixth in the SLIAC in field-goal percentage (46.8) and was tied for third in free throws made with 80 in 133 tries.
Falls recorded eight double-doubles, posted 10 or more rebounds nine times and reached double figures in scoring 19 times in 25 games.
The highlight of her season was when she became the 18th player in program history to record 1,000 points and put away a pair of game-tying free throws that sent the game to overtime in an eventual 80-75 comeback win at Fontbonne.
She finished her career with 1,169 points and 779 rebounds, ranking seventh in points in program history and tying for fifth in rebounds. She is one of only five players in program history to record 1,000 points and 700 rebounds.
Defensively, she was responsible for guarding players of all sizes, ready to contain guards, forwards and centers at any given time. She tallied 36 steals and six blocks.
Freshman Josie Ness (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) was Eureka's representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
