Eureka Defeats Blackburn 38-15 in Thursday Dual
CARLINVILLE, Ill. – The Eureka men's wrestling team rolled to a 38-15 dual victory at Blackburn on Thursday, winning six of the eight contested bouts and earning five victories by fall.
After the Beavers opened the night with a forfeit at 125 pounds, the Red Devils quickly seized control. Tristan Mosack put Eureka on the board with an 11-4 decision at 133, and Tanner Finin followed with a forfeit win at 141 to give EC its first lead.
The Red Devils surged from there. Trevor Hedges needed just 48 seconds to pin his opponent at 149, and William Tucker added a dominant technical fall at 157. After Blackburn claimed a tight 165-pound decision, Eureka responded with three straight pins: Caleb Ohnesorge in 46 seconds at 174, Sargent Maubach in 3:23 at 184 and Patrick Fields in 2:04 at 197.
Blackburn closed the dual with a fall at heavyweight, but Eureka had long since secured the team win. In exhibition action, Josiah Morones added an 18-10 major decision for the Red Devils.
