Naitzy Garcia Named SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Eureka's Naitzy Garcia (Mendota, Ill./Mendota) has been recognized as the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week following a strong showing in net during the Red Devils' opening weekend.

Garcia tallied 17 total saves across 135 minutes of action, beginning with five saves in just one half of play during Eureka's season opener against Monmouth on Friday. Despite the 3-0 loss, the junior made several key stops to keep the Red Devils within reach.

She followed that up with a standout performance on Sunday, making 12 saves while playing all 90 minutes in a narrow 2-1 loss to Waldorf.

Garcia and the Red Devils are back in action tomorrow as they travel to face Andrews, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
