Red Devils Compete at Titan I-55 Invite

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Eureka cross country and distance team was back in action on Saturday for their first competition of the spring semester at the Titan I-55 Invite, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan.

The women's team had a solid performance across the board. Emily Baker (Washington, Ill./Washington) ran the mile in 7:15.40, battling through lingering illness and injury from the cross-country season. Despite the challenges, she powered through and showed resilience. Isabella Carbajal (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park) competed in her first 800m race since her freshman year, finishing with a time of 3:14.62. Rachel Fisher (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) followed up with an 8th place finish in the 800m, posting a time of 2:40.84. Odessa Grove (Lewistown, Ill./Lewistown) set a personal record in the 1200m, completing the race in 5:34.35.

On the men's side, Hayden Skaggs (Mansfield, Texas/Mansfield) ran his first 800m race post-accident, finishing with a new indoor personal best of 2:57.71. Bailey Webster (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) had a busy day, running both the 1200m (3:33.46, 8th place) and 3000m (9:49.99, 12th place).

"Overall, we are pleased with how the team performed, especially given that we've had just one week of practice since the semester break," said head coach Chris Robinson. "There were some great individual performances and personal records, and we're excited to continue building momentum as we prepare for next week's meet." Robinson expressed confidence that the team is heading in the right direction and looks forward to further improvement in the coming weeks.

The Red Devils will return to Bloomington next Friday for the Titan Friday Night Challenge, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
