Webster Breaks Two School Records at Jason Dennis Memorial

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Bailey Webster stole the spotlight Friday night at the Jason Dennis Memorial hosted by Illinois Wesleyan, breaking his own school records in both the mile and 800 meters to headline Eureka's performance against a deep field featuring DI, DII, DIII, and top JUCO competition.

The night was highlighted by a record-breaking double from Bailey Webster (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria), who turned in a standout performance in both the mile and 800-meter run. Webster first took the track in the mile, finishing eighth overall with a personal-best and school-record time of 4:36.24. He later returned in the 800 meters and delivered again, breaking his own school record with another personal best of 2:04.62 to place 10th overall. The competitive field helped bring out the best in Webster, as he rewrote the record book twice in one night.

Cole Glover (Hopkinsville, Ky./University Heights) and Evan Gillespie (Jacksonville, Ill./Jacksonville) also competed in the mile on the men's side. Glover started the race aggressively but faded late while battling illness, finishing in 5:13.39. Gillespie put together a strong effort, trimming two seconds off his previous best to post a personal best time of 6:33.96. In the 800 meters, Jose Amador (Kempton, Ill./Tri-Point) improved on his season best time with a 2:20.84 performance.

On the women's side, Zoe Stoecker (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) competed in the mile in just her second collegiate track meet. Stoecker showed clear progress, taking more than seven seconds off her previous mark to record a personal-best time of 7:57.50.

Head coach Chris Robinson reflected on the meet, saying, "I was happy with how the team competed overall and thrilled for Bailey with his double school record night. That performance was a tremendous confidence booster for him and prepares him for a strong season to come."
