Webster Leads Surge as Eureka Stacks PRs and School Records

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Eureka cross country and distance continued its strong indoor season against another large, talented field Saturday, turning in two school records, five personal records, and a season-best performance while competing against athletes from DI, DII, DIII, and junior college programs.

The meet was headlined by another record-setting effort from Bailey Webster (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria), who delivered two standout efforts on the men's side. Webster broke the school record in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:33.58, trimming more than two seconds off the mark he set just last week. He later returned in the 3,000 meters and rewrote the record book again, clocking a personal-best 9:16.64 to lower his previous school record from last season by nearly six seconds. Webster's back-to-back record performances highlighted a day where Eureka consistently elevated its results in a deep, competitive field.

Cole Glover (Hopkinsville, Ky./University Heights) and Jose Amador (Kempton, Ill./Tri-Point) also made major strides in the 800 meters. Glover posted a collegiate personal best of 2:09.78, while Amador won his heat with a season-best 2:17.34, cutting more than three seconds off his time from last week. In the mile, Glover showed another big jump, slicing more than 25 seconds off last week's mark to finish in 4:47.16. Amador added a 5:21.86 effort, and Evan Gillespie (Jacksonville, Ill./Jacksonville) recorded a personal-best 6:24.04, improving his PR by nine seconds.

On the women's side, Zoe Stoecker (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) continued her rapid progression in the mile. She crossed in 7:32.14 for a personal best, knocking 25 seconds off her time from last week and showing significant growth early in her collegiate career.

Head coach Chris Robinson praised the team's trajectory following the meet. "The entire team is running well and trending in the right direction. I am proud of the work they are putting in and the continued progress they make each week," Robinson said. "Bailey continues to impress by bringing home two school records in back-to-back meets. Zoe is gaining more and more confidence with each race she runs and Evan is continuing to learn how to race and improve each week. Jose keeps chipping away at his times as he returns to form. Cole took a really big step in getting back to the times he is more accustomed to running. We have two more meets upcoming before the SLIAC Conference Championship at the end of the month. I am excited to see what we can do!"
