Eureka Wraps D3 National Invite, Turns Focus to SLIAC Championships
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Eureka women's wrestling team competed over the weekend at the D3 National Invite, hosted by Augustana. The event gave the Red Devils a chance to test themselves against high-level opponents as the postseason approaches.
Ahleia Young represented Eureka at 145 pounds. After receiving a bye to begin her bracket, Young ran into tough competition, dropping her next match by tech fall in 33 seconds before falling by pin at the 1:06 mark in her final bout of the tournament.
At 160 pounds, Jaylah Campbell battled through a challenging draw. Campbell opened with a loss by fall in 1:01 and later was pinned again in 1:32, gaining valuable experience against quality opponents in the process.
Eureka had two wrestlers compete at 138 pounds in Krisean Buchana and Randi Campe. Buchana picked up a win by fall in 1:58 in her opening match of the day. She later fell by pin in 1:46 and closed her tournament with a tech fall loss in 2:44. Campe also competed in the deep 138-pound bracket, dropping both of her matches by fall in 56 seconds and 1:09.
The D3 National Invite provided another competitive test for the Red Devils as they continue to sharpen their skills heading into the final portion of the schedule.
