Eureka XC Posts Top-20 Finishes at Warrior Invite
WEST ALLIS, Wis. – The Eureka cross country team turned in a strong showing at the Warrior Invite on Saturday, earning two top-20 finishes and two personal records despite warm conditions.
On the men's side, Cole Glover (Hopkinsville, Ky./University Heights) led the way, clocking a personal-best 28:01.29 to finish 11th overall. Bailey Webster (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) followed with a 20th place finish in 29:01.78 to give Eureka two top-20 finishers.
The Red Devils were without captain Jose Amador (Kempton, Ill./Tri-Point), who missed the race due to a family obligation. Evan Gillespie (Jacksonville, Ill./Jacksonville) was forced to withdraw at the 3-mile mark with a tender ankle.
On the women's side, Zoe Stoecker (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) took on yet another new distance this fall and continued her momentum with a personal-best time of 35:36.57.
"Overall I am happy with the way they all performed," said head coach Chris Robinson. "With the high temps and full sun I wanted them to focus less on time and instead race the field. Efforts were paid off with two top-20 finishes and two PRs."
