Men’s Soccer Picked Eighth in SLIAC Coaches Poll

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released its 2025 preseason poll for men's soccer on Wednesday, with Eureka slated to finish eighth. The Red Devils received 16 points in a vote conducted by the league's coaches.

Lyon claimed the top spot in the poll with 60 points and five first-place votes. Spalding followed closely with 57 points and four first-place votes, while Greenville placed third with 50 points. Webster (44), Principia (36), Westminster (29), Blackburn (24), Eureka (16), and MUW (8) rounded out the standings.

Eureka returns six starters from last season's squad, including 2024 leading scorer Joyce Kabesa (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington), who found the back of the net six times. Michael DeCarlo (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) also returns after leading the Red Devils with five assists a season ago.

With a year of collegiate experience under their belts, sophomores Uli Castaneda (Bloomington, Ill./Normal West) and Walter Medrano (Houston, Texas/Heights) are expected to step into larger roles. Newcomers Landon Porch (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) and Michael Kondilis (Chicago, Ill./Maine South) will also look to make an immediate impact in their first seasons at Eureka.

The Red Devils begin their 2025 campaign at home on Thursday, Aug. 29, against Kuyper. SLIAC play kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 28, when Eureka hosts Westminster.
